The Hardstand on Causeway Road - information

A friendly volunteer staffed Haul-out facility and small maintenance area on Causeway Rd at Ostend.

Proceeds support the clubs activities including developing Junior sailing and promoting safe boating on the beautiful waters surrounding Waiheke Island.

The facility is primarily for members who by joining will benefit from a lower club fee structure, however the club will accept requests for use from the wider boating community, especially in emergencies.

The 30 day maximum maintenance time on the hard may be extended by up to 30 days by agreement with WBC

All Hardstand fees need to be settled prior to launching day

Non-members are required to pay a bond and the first month fees in advance.

There is no long-term storage or refit capacity so use of the yard is strictly subject to a defined maintenance time-frame and launch date stated at the commencement of hauling.

Most of the information needed to understand how the Haulout facility works is below using the blue buttons.

Once you have your full boat details at hand please complete a haul-out request and discuss operational matters like suitable cradles and tides with our Slipmaster, Pete Stodart.

Gerry Morgan manages the haulout agreements, bookings, alllocation of cradles and scheduled dates ensuring we prioritise members and track payments.

When the formalities are complete Gerry will be able to confirm the o.k to haulout or relaunch.

The facility is very tide dependant and has limitations on vessel dimensions and weight. Please discuss these factors with us at the time of booking. On acceptance of your booking and agreement of our terms and conditions, the volunteer Slip-master will agree a suitable date and time plus assist with hire-age of our self-use pressure sprayer, cradles and electricity.

You will need additional friends or family to help you launch or retrieve, as guided by the slip-master.

An official opening of the updated facility was held 25th March 2018
